Is children's sugar consumption too high?

According to the BBC Children in the UK exceed the maximum recommended sugar intake for an 18-year-old by the time they are 10, according to experts.
this is based on findings from the national diet and nutrition survey 
for an analysis of the findings se the useful factsheet on the British Nutrition Foundation website
Public Health England has launched a campaign site to encourage parents to swop certain foods to lower the sugar intake. This includes a scanner app which measures average intake in certain foods.
British Government policy on sugar reduction
NHS has advice on health sugar intakes and the impact on the body of eating too much sugar.
Campaign group Action on Sugar is seeking to reduce consumption. it has consumer advice plus news stories on high levels of sugar in certain foods.
BMA doctor's organisation has also published reports calling for healthier diets
