State of the nation 2022: children and young people’s wellbeing

A report on the wellbeing of children and young people over the academic year 2021 to 2022.

The Department for Education (DfE) has published a new State of the nation report looking at the wellbeing of children and young people in England over the academic year 2021/2022. The report sets out previously published data from various sectors. The report finds that during the 2021/22 academic year, while wellbeing on most measures remained consistent, anxiousness among both primary and secondary-aged pupils appears to have increased and is higher than in 2020/21

The tooth hurts: smiles shaped by poverty
Hygiene poverty charity Beauty Banks has teamed up with the British Dental Association (BDA) to understand the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on the oral health of students and on the role of teachers in classrooms across Britain. The survey found that one in four UK secondary school teachers surveyed reported that they have given out toothbrushes and toothpaste to their pupils.
