Chernobyl remembrance

International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day is remembered on
26 April.  On this date in 1986 An explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant spread a radioactive cloud over large parts of the Soviet Union, now the territories of Belarus, Ukraine and the Russian Federation causing imense human and long term environmental damage
The UN resolution  and 
associated United Nations documents provide information and background on events. 
The UNDP also has a specialist website  It contains a depository of UN official documents on Chernobyl nuclear accident
