.During the EU referendum campaign Michael Gove MP remarked that the country has "had enough of experts from organisations with acronyms saying that they know what is best and getting it consistently wrong". Senior Fellow Jonathan Portes from the ESRC-funded UK in a Changing Europe initiative responded, writing in The Guardian that we were not getting a 'mature debate on Brexit' from Michael Gove.This resulted in a vigorous twitter argument between the two, culminating in a challenge from Gove to Portes to debate the issues in public – UK in a Changing Europe and moderated by broadcaster and columnist Julia Hartley-Brewer.hosted a debate
